On Friday, August 24, Zack had his evaluation with his new teacher Mrs. Jones. She said he was confused with p, b and d and he mixed up 6 and 9. She said those are things that most kids have trouble with at first and that is what they will be working on this year so it will all be okay. He had fun checking out his classroom some more and then he and Jaki took a few papers up to the office and got signed up for the PTA. Grandma Valerie was tending Addi and Will so they went and played at her house for a few hours while Addi finished her 2 hour nap and Will took a short nap as well.
Then a little later Jaki and the kids went with Grandma Valerie to her ward swim party at North Shore. The whole evening was great! There was a good dinner provided by ward members that Zack and Will both hardly touched but Will managed to dump out 2 sodas, luckily it was outside.
The sunset over the pool and Jaki and Zack coming out of the slide. They went down it 5 times because Zack was having so much fun!
Just a cute shot of the kids on Saturday morning. Zack got them all there and kept yelling "Mommy, come take our picture!" Will has a bandaid on his forehead from the huge bump he got at the zoo. He tripped and fell on the cement right next to one of the softer play areas. He missed the padded area by about 1 inch with his forehead.
Jaki canned another batch of salsa on Saturday and got 11 jars that sealed, only one didn't. The peppers finally started growing and there were enough for salsa and to make stuffed peppers for dinner Sunday. The onions are a good size although still not as big as we maybe wanted. There've been lots of zucchini and crookneck squash. There are 6 spaghetti squash just waiting to yellow up and 2 butternut squash almost getting brown and another one just starting to grow. There's also an acorn squash starting to get nice and green.
Saturday was the Stake BBQ. It was a carnival theme and was pretty fun. They had a tug of war that was constantly going with new kids every few minutes, Zack and Will joined in for a good 10 minutes. There was also a bounce house with a slide on the side, older kids playing soccer, a ring toss, face painting by young women (Zack and Will both got a batman bat on their cheeks but it smeared before we could take a picture), cotton candy, snow cones, and lemonade. All in all it was a really fun evening.
We go to the Brigham City Temple open house on Tuesday and then Zack starts school on Wednesday so I'm sure we'll have lots more to post this week. That's all for now!
