Zack's first day of Kindergarten

Zack's first day of Kindergarten!  He is such a big boy now!  I can't believe he's already in school.  He got ready for school and was so excited.  When he got in the car after school the first thing he talked about was the playground and the kid with the mohawk that he played with.  He said that they talked about classroom rules and read a gingerbread story.  He was saying that the cooks were supposed to be bringing them gingerbread men but never did and he was kind of sad about it.  His favorite part of the whole day was recess, of course.
We were walking up to the school from the car and I got this cute shot.
He found his name and hung his backpack up without any help.  Then went and got his name tag and then found his desk and sat in it.

Zack walking out of school, for the first time, with his daddy.
He kept waving at me, I was in the car with the rest of the kids.  Such a cute smile!

Here is the whole Wednesday crew after we picked Zack up from school and then Aibree and Brynlee.

Brigham City Temple

We were able to attend the Brigham City Temple Open House on Tuesday August 28.  It was beautiful, as are all temples, but it was so nice to be able to take our whole family in.  The kids were wonderful, all except for Will's loud voice; the kid just doesn't know how to stay quiet for more than a minute at a time.  I explained to Zack what the rooms were for and I think he enjoyed it.

The west side of the temple.
 Front, north side of temple.
Such cute kids!  I think they had more fun climbing into this windowsill than anything else.

ITS BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE.........
PUMPKINS!!!

This ones about twice the size of a basketball!
This one is about the size of a basketball.
This is a little bigger than a softball.

AT first there was only one pumpkin, then all of a sudden  there was two.  Now when we looked just a couple days ago there is another one.  These are supposed to be big, big pumpkins.  Ill bet that the big one already weighs about 30 pounds!  Its huge!!!

On Friday, August 24, Zack had his evaluation with his new teacher Mrs. Jones.  She said he was confused with p, b and d and he mixed up 6 and 9.  She said those are things that most kids have trouble with at first and that is what they will be working on this year so it will all be okay.  He had fun checking out his classroom some more and then he and Jaki took a few papers up to the office and got signed up for the PTA.  Grandma Valerie was tending Addi and Will so they went and played at her house for a few hours while Addi finished her 2 hour nap and Will took a short nap as well.
Then a little later Jaki and the kids went with Grandma Valerie to her ward swim party at North Shore.  The whole evening was great!  There was a good dinner provided by ward members that Zack and Will both hardly touched but Will managed to dump out 2 sodas, luckily it was outside.

Addi loved the water and actually even tried crawling in it.  It was perfect until the sun started going down and it started to get quite chilly.  The boys were shaking and had chattering teeth because they were so cold.  We went to the showers to get warmed up and the boys didn't want to leave.  Zack kept saying he was still freezing even though he clearly wasn't.
The sunset over the pool and Jaki and Zack coming out of the slide.  They went down it 5 times because Zack was having so much fun!
Just a cute shot of the kids on Saturday morning.  Zack got them all there and kept yelling "Mommy, come take our picture!"  Will has a bandaid on his forehead from the huge bump he got at the zoo.  He tripped and fell on the cement right next to one of the softer play areas.  He missed the padded area by about 1 inch with his forehead.
Addi is such a fast crawler now even with a dress in her way!  She already managed to fall down the top set of stairs so we are watching her carefully and put the gate up there usually.  She also already started getting into the plants by the front door.  It's amazing how fast we go from wanting them to be mobile to wishing they maybe still weren't.  She chases the boys around and doesn't want much to do with her baby toys anymore.

Jaki canned another batch of salsa on Saturday and got 11 jars that sealed, only one didn't.  The peppers finally started growing and there were enough for salsa and to make stuffed peppers for dinner Sunday. The onions are a good size although still not as big as we maybe wanted.  There've been lots of zucchini and crookneck squash.  There are 6 spaghetti squash just waiting to yellow up and 2 butternut squash almost getting brown and another one just starting to grow.  There's also an acorn squash starting to get nice and green.

Saturday was the Stake BBQ.  It was a carnival theme and was pretty fun.  They had a tug of war that was constantly going with new kids every few minutes, Zack and Will joined in for a good 10 minutes. There was also a bounce house with a slide on the side, older kids playing soccer, a ring toss, face painting by young women (Zack and Will both got a batman bat on their cheeks but it smeared before we could take a picture), cotton candy, snow cones, and lemonade.  All in all it was a really fun evening.

We go to the Brigham City Temple open house on Tuesday and then Zack starts school on Wednesday so I'm sure we'll have lots more to post this week.  That's all for now!

On Tuesday, Aug 21, Jaki and the kids met up with some of Jaki's family at the Riverdale Splash pad.  They also had fun in the surrounding park areas and found a very fat caterpillar.  Here are just a few pictures of the fun of the day.

On Wednesday, Aug 22, we went to the zoo and had a lot of fun.  On the way down Will couldn't quite figure out how to put his sunglasses on right and was starting to fall asleep.
Oh no! The lion drinking fountain is going to eat Will and Zack!
The polar bear was doing laps right up to the window to the right.  He kept flipping around and giving us all a good show!
Zack and Will are trying to see how big they are compared to the apes.
Zack always loves to sit on this elephant that makes noises and then squirts water out its trunk.
The group, minus Kip since he was taking the picture, in front of the bears.
Monkeys!  They were quite active while we were there and this one was pressed up against the glass.
Playing some music with some other kids and a zoo worker.
The tigers were playing in and out of the water and Kip caught this on video of the tiger in front being startled by the other.

The zoo was quiet but the animals were all very active.  It was a lot of fun!

Here is Addi crawling!  She's been doing a little here and there but now she is crawling to get to toys and everything else.  She's still slow, which is okay with us, but it's awesome that she is moving.

The kids cheesing it up.  They're all getting so big!  It's amazing how fast the time goes by.

Will smiling for Grandma and Grandpa!

 We had a fun weekend.

On Friday, August 10, while Kip slept, Jaki took the kids to the Weber County Fair where the boys had spiders painted on their arms by their Grandma Valerie at the library's booth and helped milk a cow in the petting zoo.  They also played some games and rode a few rides.  Zack won a stuffed animal crab, which he calls 'Crabby', from knocking over all the milk cans. Will won a pink piggy bank from a wheel spin at the America First booth.  A storm was blowing in and they made it home just a few minutes before it hit. Here is a picture of the boys with all their prizes from the fair.

On Saturday, August 11, Jaki and the kids went to the free day at the Dinosaur Museum, while Kip was sleeping again, with Christy, Sally and Heather and all the kids.  They walked around in a couple groups but ate lunch together at a picnic table.  Later that night we had some friends over to the house and played games until about midnight.  Just before midnight the older boys all crashed while watching a movie.  At about 2 am, awhile after everyone had left and the kids were in their beds, we went out on the trampoline and watched for the meteor shower that was supposed to hit last night.  We ended up only seeing a few meteors and decided to go to bed.  However, Jaki set her alarm for 5 am and got up to go see if there were any more meteors at that time.  There weren't, but the moon was lined up with Mars and Venus and it was beautiful.

Today, August 12, we went to the blessing of Colton and Teresa's baby, Makayla, and had fun at a luncheon afterward where the boys ate a little but played a lot.  A little later on today we are going to family dinner with Jaki's family.

So we had a lot of busy fun this weekend.  I guess we are trying to squeeze in some things before Zack starts kindergarten.  We also found out Zack's teacher is going to be Mrs. Jones and he will be in afternoon kindergarten, which works out great for Jaki's schedule.  We will be meeting Mrs. Jones at back to school night which is the 21.  That's all for now!

Here is Addi a few days ago just about crawling.  She gets a little better every day.  She also scoots herself backwards when sitting or lying on her tummy!  She's getting so big already.

Jaki and the kids outside the Jordan River Temple.  Jakis mom and cousins watched all the kids while they were all in the temple.  Addi loved playing in the grass as always and the boys couldn't keep out of the dirt.  they had lots of fun and were down there all day while I was at work.427557_10151156281668338_440467630_n.jpg
